What We Do
Alternators
“My radio’s flickering and my lights are dim.”
Cars with alternator issues are usually towed in. You have a $500 alternator that will be at risk once the battery goes bad. So let’s change that battery now and protect the alternator.
Axle and CV Joints
“Ticking or snapping noise when turning corners.”
Westboro Automotive hears them when they’re turning into the garage.
Batteries
“It didn’t turn over right and was a little sluggish this morning.”
Batteries go bad because of age and suffer from heat as much as cold. Westboro Automotive looks at the battery and pulls the code off the battery to see how old it is. In theory, an alternator would never go bad if everyone changed their battery. Most batteries go bad over a number of weeks, so by paying attention to the sound of the car as it’s started, you can protect the alternator.
Brakes
“Squeals on turns, then grinding and squealing when braking.”
Brakes wear out. You may get 30,000 miles on them if you brake aggressively or as many as 55,000 miles if you’re more cautious, braking only when necessary. Westboro Automotive will give you a good price and honest appraisal about when your brakes need service and when you have more miles left on them.
Mufflers and Exhaust Systems
“Louder noises deepening to a roar.”
Older cars need this work most often as the systems progressively fail. Rattling noises from beneath your vehicle can indicate a loose muffler or exhaust pipe as well.
Oil Changes
“Oil changes are the key to engine life.”
Routine oil changes keep you from voiding the warranty on your car. Westboro Automotive often combines oil changes with other services: brakes and oil change, tires and oil change, inspection and oil change. If you want just an oil change, give a call and set up a time in order to turn it around quickly.
Starters
“Clicking before the car turns over and catches.”
The starter solenoid is clicking but there’s no connection.
State Inspections
“Find and fix the issues before the inspection.”
If you fail, you have 7 days fix the safety issues and 60 days to fix emissions and to get your vehicle reinspected.
Tires
“Chirping on turns and when driving from a stop.”
Westboro Automotive buys tires from the same places as all the major tire shops. You’ll end up paying less because we won’t tack unnecessary costs onto the transaction.
Westboro Automotive rotates your tires when you stop in for service, and we keep air pressure at the right levels. Routine maintenance is free. 40,000 miles is the end of a 60,000 mile tire if it’s not maintained. If maintained, you should get at least 50,000 miles, saving you hundreds of dollars and additional impact on the environment.
